Want to lose weight? Stop setting yourself up for failure.


Guess What???  There’s no magic pill…..surprised?  Sad?

In order to reach your weight loss goals, you are going to have to put in the work!  Sorry 💔💔.  I don’t pull any punches when it comes to getting where you want to go with weight loss goals.  Weight loss is EASY!  Yes I said it…..Weight loss is also REALLY HARD!!!!

But what makes it hard is you and you alone.  You have to stop making excuses and start making changes. You have to recognize that all of your “reasons” are just excuses you let get in the way of your goals.  Step up, take control and stop acting like it’s  a “DIET”. On Wednesday I talked about dieting.  It’s a 4 letter word that we have to remove from our vocabulary to be succesful.  Stop  saying “I can’t  have”.

You don’t have to give up pizza, you have to give up whole pizzas,  you don’t have to give up cake you just can’t  eat it all.  We need to stop looking at foods as good and bad.  We need to start looking at then as nutritionally sound or not so much.  Ask yourself how will I feel after I eat this.  Will I be satisfied? For how long? Will I be hungry in 30 minutes?

Maybe I sound like I know what I’m talking about,  maybe not.  What I do know is I have kept 65 lbs off for 20 years by never saying “I can’t have that” and using these words instead “I don’t need that”, I know what that tastes like” , I can have that anytime”.  We need to STOP acting like we are eating our last supper.

Do you want to take the steps to lose weight? Are you ready? Do you have your list of whys?

Let’s do this, here’s what you need to do.

Stop making excuses for why you can’t  do it…….(there is no acceptable reason for you not to lose weight)

Remember you are always in charge of what you put in your mouth.  No one can make you eat anything. If you are in a situation where someone else is in charge of the choices you still get to decide how MUCH you eat.

You need to weigh and measure your portions.  If you are not doing this, you are not right.  We are not good at guessing portion size.  How hungry we are,  judges our portions for us.  Most of us really don’t eat that poorly we just eat too much.

We need to keep track of how much we are eating everyday. Keep a food log.  Be honest, no ones judging,  it is just feedback for you for the next day or next week.

We need to have healthy choices always available.  If you only have junk you will only eat junk.

You need to forgive yourself quickly if you make mistakes. Trust me you will. We all do everyday.

You need to STOP explaining yourself to others.  No Thank you is a complete sentence.  No one needs to know why you are eating what you are eating.  Not their business.

You need to have a back up plan. You need to be prepared for anything.  Have you ever been to a restaurant and had to wait and you were hungry when you got there?  What happens….now we are starving and all bets are off. Having a back up plan means you eat an apple before you leave.  Having a little snack in the car just in case.

We need to ONLY get on the scale once a week at the same time every week.  Stop giving the scale so much power.  You need other forms of measurement.  A tape measure, a journal of successful changes you are making, recognizing positive changes you are making.

Have the attitude that this is a forever change….this is how I eat now.  Don’t look back.

Figure out how to EAT the things you love ( do not say “I’ll have that after I lose the weight”) If you are not willing to give it up FOREVER  then figure out how to have it.  Maybe not every day but once on a while.  I have Chocolate Martinis every Wednesday and Saturday night and I am not stopping that any time soon.  You need to make room for what you love the most and you need to make it the best.  An example of this if I am going to have French fries they are going to be the best and if they come out cold I am sending them back.

Eat healthy fats they are super important. Know what healthy fats are! Educate yourself. There are fats in the news that are awful for you.

Lastly, and probably most importantly do not eat things just because they are good for you.  There are 1000’s of foods that are good for you find the ones you like.  If you hate salad don’t eat salad find another way to get vegetables. If you can’t have milk find another way to get your protein.

I know you can do this if you will remove your reasons/excuses that are holding you back.
