How I lost 6 pounds in 9 days
If I told you I lost 6 pounds in 9 days what would be your 1st question?
How? What did you do? Did you starve? Work out like crazy?
Before I answer those questions I am going to give you a little background for those who don’t know me very well.
I lost 55 pounds in 1991, gained it all back and lost it again in 1999 and have kept it off for 20 plus years. I was a coach with WW for 20 years and when I left I knew I wanted to be accepting of all diet plans and support everyone where they were. But I also wanted to have a common sense plan that didn’t take a lot of thought and if you did it you would see success.

2020 was a year of self discovery and reflecting for me.
1st like many although my weight NUMBER did not change my weight moved to areas I am not particularly fond of. Plus after much change and reflection I realized I was no longer valued at the company I had poured my heart and soul into for 20 years. It was time to STEP up and practice what I preach. Know your value and don’t let anyone take advantage of you.,
AOYS and the Power 13 was Created from there.
The AOYS Power 13 is the 13 things I know you have to do to live a healthy lifestyle. Small, doable, livable things.
LONG STORY (Too Late) Short.
A month ago I received a BAD result on a blood test.
While my cholesterol has always been High my good has always been outstanding and my bad was borderline . My Doctor was OK because my numbers have been the same since the 90’s. Well this time it was ugly my bad went up 30 points and overall cholesterol went up 40. I ask all the time what it is going to take? This was an eye opening moment. My “what’s it going to take moment?”
The Steps I took:
After a little mini meltdown….. I sat down with my list. What could I do fast and realistically. My Doctor said to retest at the 2 week mark so we could see what happens. Rather than assume it was an error I dove in. I started with cutting my portions in ½. It is the 1st thing on the POWER 13 and I knew it couldn’t hurt. I doubled my vegetables and started moving more! 2 ~ 15 minute (DOABLE) walks a day and 30 Minutes of GROOVE (sometimes in a row and sometimes split up in 5 or 10 minute segments).
This resulted in 6 pounds gone in 9 days. HEY, I have not really had a dramatic scale move in 20 years. I was SIX pounds lower than I had been since 1999 and all I did was make tiny changes! I wasn’t hungry and I felt so much better so fast. While there are 13 in the POWER 13 these were my focus. The Other 10 fell into place and have been areas of focus.
I am down 10 pounds and my cholesterol is back to ”my” normal. Still higher than Medical recommendations but down. The weight loss was exciting but how I feel is top priority and I know we can be successful if we just do AOYS Power 13. 13 small, doable Livable changes.
My plan is to continue with all of them and to share them with everyone who becomes a part of AOYS! Guess what! This summer is 13 weeks and we are breaking them all down! Our weekly discussion starters will be based on them and we will make them so simple you will wonder what took you so long to join us!
